2008 P4A Officially Launched
Hello, you’re probably coming here because you saw my recent video on youtube about the project for Awesome. You might be looking for resources, like the files to use as thumbnails (PSD: 4:3 or 16:9 - PNG 4:3 or 16:9 - GIF 4:3 or 16:9.) Or you might be coming to find out more about the project (last year it went on the front page of Digg and it’s since been written up in real traditional media.)
Or you might want to sign up for the project for awesome mailing list, so that you can be involved in the festivities of the 17th. So yeah, DO THAT NOW!
The Project for Awesome really is like a youtube-wide party. People are all over the place, commenting on videos, uploading, watching, hanging out, helping out and generally being mischeivious. I honestly can’t wait, and I hope you’ll be a part of it with us.

Also, on the About the P4A page, it says it’s on the 14th, not the 17th. Same on the Preparation Begins! blog entry.

I’m so excited for this. I have a few questions/comments:
1. let me get this right: we upload our video on youtube on the 17th, and then submit the URL here. and then over the course of the 17th you will choose the best ones and email the link, or blog about it here so it can get a bunch of views?
2. on the MAKE A P4A VIDEO page, there is a mistake in step 3. it says ‘make a video talking about your favorite video’
I wasn’t able to participate last year, so i’m so excited for this year

Hey - Hank -
As I know you are aware about the Thumbnail issue, but thought I’d let you know I’ve uploaded the same video 4 times and ended up with 4 different thumbnails every time…. I’ve even dropped timecode on the video to see where it’s pulling from, and sure enough it hasn’t regularly been pulling from the middle 10sec for that center thumb. If I come up with a clue or something I’ll let you know!

What on earth are the point of the png and gif files…being single layered, you cant remove the demo-text, and so they are useless?

I do not see this being true. The whole page looks so much needing rework, how am I to believe that this idea is from serious folks?

FYI…the site is unreadable using IE7. Fonts are huge and overrunning themselves, layout below the masthead is completely missing, etc. Looks great in Chrome, but in IE it looks like wordpress barfed.

I feel dumb but I’m trying to go off the psd template…but I’m not sure what all I’m suppose to replace those lines with what?? also were there any resolution to the thumbnail thing? Us non partnered types can’t upload our own thumbnail…

haha well i thought id done it but now im in shock again as i just read up to 4 mintues??? I made mine 6 minutes??? omg help???
