About the P4A
Sometimes the world just sucks too much. This year is certainly no exception. But it’s the time of the year when we have to think about others instead of ourselves. Which is why the YouTube community is excited, this year, to band together to promote our favorite charities, and to encourage giving among young and old alike.
So on this one day out of three hundred and sixty-five, we’re all making videos with the same screenshot, the same titles, and the same theme: We want to make the world a better place, and so we’re thanking people who have dedicated their lives to do that, and promoting their cause with our time and our money.
After the P4A videos are made, the youtube community works together to comment on and rate the videos. As these videos climb the most-discussed and top-rated pages, the videos slowly start to take over the entire site. Last year, we caught the staff of YouTube completely off guard, and they couldn’t believe we’d duped them and, in a way, hacked their site. We’re hoping to do them one better this year.
Throughout the day this December 17th, we will be liveblogging the transformation that YouTube is undergoing. As P4A (project for awesome) videos go live throughout the site, and the community promotes those videos, and people give money to the biggest and best charities of the year.
