VERY SPECIAL KIDS has a vision: all families of children with life-threatening conditions are able to access quality services that meet their needs. Very Special Kids supports families from diagnosis to bereavement, and provides 24-hour medical and nursing care in a warm and welcoming environment to children with life-threatening conditions. It is a sad fact that many of the children within the care of Very Special Kids will pass before adulthood.
Very Special Kids is Victoria’s only hospice for children offering charitable palliative care, and has helped over 900 out of 2,000 Victorian families who qualify for their services. These free services include counselling, advocacy, sibling support, bereavement support, networking and peer activities, trained family volunteers and specialist care at the Very Special Kids Hospice. It costs more than $8 million AUD each year to operate Very Special Kids - your contribution is vital to the success of Very Special Kids, with two-thirds of funding being dependent on community contributions. The more donations, the more families Very Special Kids can support.

Enter… Project for Awesome! John and Hank Green annually host an online fundraising event where people all over the world post videos advocating for charities that make the world a better place. Their community promotes and fundraises for these charities, with votes determining the distribution of the money fundraised. In 2017, over $2,000,000 was split between two organisations chosen by the Vlogbrothers, along with twenty-five charities chosen by the community.
